OUR MISSION
The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization, led by volunteers, and guided by its Congressional Charter and the fundamental principles of the International Red Cross movement will provide relief to victims of disaster and help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.

Volunteer Opportunities

Emergency Services
Disaster Action Team

Disaster Action Team members
assist families after a disaster such as a flood, fire or tornado. You will help families meet their immediate emergency needs including shelter, food and clothing. Volunteers are asked to be on call for a minimum of two 12 hour shifts per month, at your convenience.

The Disaster Services department also has opportunities for canteen drivers, instructors and administrative duties.

Health Services Instructor

Volunteers teach essential life-saving skills to others by instructing courses in CPR, Standard First Aid, HIV/AIDS, Babysitting, Swimming and Life guarding. We need volunteer instructors for daytime, evening and weekend classes at the chapter office and out in the community.

Fund Development

Data entry and other administrative duties are available opportunities in the Fund Development department as a well as becoming a member of the Fund Development Committee or working as special events support.

WHEELS Transportation Department

Trained volunteers are needed to answer phones and perform data entry duties.

Community Events & Public Relations

Represent American Red Cross at community health fairs, speak to local service groups and work with schools to promote safe planning activities in the event of disaster.

Writers, graphic artists and photographers are also needed for specialized serviceprojects. Volunteers hours are flexible.

Administrative

Volunteers answer telephones, type, file and assist with direct mailings. Specialized computer skills are always needed.
