Lifesaver of the Year: An individual or small group who used life-saving skills such as first aid, CPR, or an AED to save a human life within the past calendar year. This award is intended to recognize an individual or group responding to an emergency in a nonprofessional capacity.
Emergency Responder of the Year: A professional emergency responder, or team of responders (firefighter, law enforcement officer, medical worker, 911 dispatcher, etc.), who assisted someone in a way above and beyond what was expected in a time of extraordinary need. This person may have saved a life or performed an act that made our community a safer place to live. The actions for which they are being considered will be considered whether the individual was on or off-duty.
Military Member of the Year: An active or reserve member of the military who has performed an act of heroism or made a significant contribution to another soldier, military unit, or military family, or has helped promote community preparedness, emergency response or vital safety training for the men and women of the Armed Forces.
Diversity Ambassador of the Year: An individual who has worked to bridge the gap between diverse communities and the vital network of resources and services that are available to meet humanitarian needs.
Young Good Samaritan of the Year: A person under 21 years in age who has performed an unexpected or significant act of heroism, or who has displayed outstanding leadership to make an impact in their community.
Community Spirit Award: A civic, government or business leader who has made a significant contribution to the wellbeing of their community. This person should demonstrate exceptional leadership and impacted his or her neighbors and/or the community at-large.
